Louis Vuitton To Launch Final FantasyXIII "Lightning: A Virtual Heroine" Line.
In the, "so high end I shall never even see one, let alone touch one," Louis Vuitton has planned an entire line of MEGA limited edition purses and clothing looks, based on the character, Lightning, from Square Enix's Final Fantasy XIII.
In some ways, it kills me to even write this up. It's just so out of the realm of the average Joe or Jane to snag one of these (unless rich, or a die-hard Final Fantasy fan, or both) that what's the point in torturing ourselves?
On the other hand, it is IMMENSELY cool to see high-end brands team up with game publishers & developers to create something for the video gaming fashionistas of the world.
What are your thoughts? Is it satisfying to see such a big brand pay homage to such an outstanding video game series and the fans that love it? Or a bit of a downer that it's so limited and expensive, that it takes most consumers out of the running? Are there any clothing X video game collabs you would like to see hit store shelves? Hit us up in the comments!
The Final Fantasy VIII/Lightning inspired line should be available Spring 2016.
“It’s clear that the virtual aesthetic of video games is predominant in this collection. If we push the reflection about heroines, or what might constitute the nature of a woman whose actions can be so courageous that she becomes superior and iconic, it becomes obvious that a virtual entity integrates with the founding principles of the Maison. Lightning is the perfect avatar for a global, heroic woman and for a world where social networks and communications are now seamlessly woven into our life. She is also the symbol of new pictorial processes. How can you create an image that goes beyond the classic principles of photography and design? Lightning heralds a new era of expression.” - Nicolas Ghesquière
