Fave K-Beauty Youtube Bloggers
If you can't tell by reading through this site, I'm a MASSIVE K-beauty fanatic. Skincare, makeup, some fashion - I'm obsessed!
It all started when I happened upon the K-drama Hotelier on the now defunct International Channel on cable. Everything was soft, and natural and so perfectly applied. AND THE SKIN! it was perfection!
So, I started exploring what type of Korean makeup and skincare was available here in the US, what was worth my money and what wasn't and other tips and tidbits. Naturally, I turned to the Beauty Bloggers on Youtube. I found most to be fun but a little too overly positive about each and every product due to their fandom or because they got it sent to them for free and didn't want to risk offending.
But a few bloggers have become my go-to channels for getting honest reviews on a wide variety K-beauty brands. Here are my favorites!
Meejmuse - Aussie-Korean beauty blogger currently living in Seoul and updating regularly about her favorite finds, application tips, and honest evaluations.
Next up is from the ClickNetwork's Tried And Tested series of videos hosted by Singaporean actress/host, Oon Shu An. While Tried and Tested doesn't limited itself to only K-Beauty (Shu An tests everything from Korean snacks, to Pinterest hacks, to Daiso products), when they DO review the K-Beauty products, they do an excellent job!
Shu An tests everything you've always been curious about but were too afraid to risk your hard-earned money on, she tackles. Shu An has an incredibly easy going demeanor and a way of delivering her lines to make you feel like she's talking directly to you. An enjoyable and informative watch!
Famous Korean Beauty Blogger, PONY, is probably the most well-known of the lot. I put her on par with America's, Michelle Phan. I came across PONY through her makeup collar with MemeBox.com. While I'm not a fan of her products, I do find her videos helpful for application tips, thought I find her vids lacking in variation (a lot of her looks tend to look similar to each other).
Lastly, my absolute favorite beauty video series is called Get It Beauty! This is a Korean television show that is currently in its third (?) season (I think. Not being able to read Korean has put a damper on my fact-checking abilities). In 2014, the show was hosted by Yoo-In Na (actress from another one of my favorite K-Dramas, My Love From Another Star). Yoo-In Na left after 2014 wrapped and 2015 was hosted by Lee Ha-Nui (also known as Honey Lee) and is again currently hosting the 2016 season.
You can watch the show, dubbed in English, on Viki TV, or you can watch a variety of clips on Youtube.
